Various remedies have been proposed to tackle thelong-standing problem of high attrition in drug development due to safety,efficacy and other causes. For example, we recently estimated that drugmechanisms with genetic support could succeed twice as often in the clinic asthose without such support. In thisscenario provided in this article, the number of launched drugs increases by14±9% and 28±18% for a 50% and 100% genetically supported portfolio,respectively. And overall costs to maintain the constant level of drug launchesare reduced by 12±8% and 22±13%, for a 50% and 100% genetically supportedportfolio, respectively.
