Recommendation 建议
For total particle count, the firm should use the methodology defined in ISO 14644- 1. Because ISO
14644- 1 only defines limits for total airborne particles, qualification of performance for viable counts
should require a risk assessment to determine sampling methodology and location.

Rationale 理由
ISO 14644- 1 is the international consensus standard recognized by the European Union, PIC/S, and
the U.S. FDA to define cleanroom classification and performance. ISO 14644- 1 provides for a specific
and well-defined sampling plan, including the minimum number of sample locations, sampling
pattern, sample size, and methodology to interpret the data. By following the ISO standard, a firm
may be highly confident in the isolator design and, upon recertification, continuing performance.
Qualification and recertification according to the ISO standard for total particle count provides
assurance that pockets of potential contamination do not exist.
