Accordig to the ICH Q7, the long-term stability stuty is performed for the purpose of confirming the retest or expiry date, normally the retest or expiry date plus one year. Thereafter, at least one batch of the API manufactured should be added to the stability monitoring program and tested at least annually to confirm the stability.

长期稳定性试验时用来确定产品有效期的，通常为连续3批，3批可以不全部是商业化批量。持续稳定性考察时用来考察在确定的生产和储存条件下在有效期内产品质量波动情况，每年至少一个批次，是商业化的批量。长期稳定性试验，如果产品生产没有影响产品质量的变更的情况下不需要每年度做。

二者的检测频次和内容也不相同。持续稳定性考察没有强制要求按照稳定性考察的频次，但是项目是按照产品质量标准全检。
